I'm Elena Garcia. I am a first-generation Latina student at the University of North Texas, pursuing a journalism degree with a concentration in public relations. My career path has been unconventional, but it led me exactly where I needed to be.

 

I used to think healthcare was the only way to advocate for people who needed it most. But after some time in the field, I realized public relations does the same thing, just in a different way. Public relations give people a voice and connect communities to stories that matter. It wasn’t just a career change. It was finding the right fit.

My heritage is central to everything I do, and I am most passionate about increasing Latina representation in media. My goal is to take those values into the entertainment industry, where I can work with organizations driven by culture and change.
